Information on the Charles Williams' Society

Subscribers to Gravesiana may be interested to km-move of the Charles Williams Society, which exists to encourage appreciation of the fine and underrated poet, novelist, critic and tnystic who had many points of contact with Robert Graves. The two poets corresponded occasion— ally; Wi11iarns's sequence of Taliessin poems was composed during the period when Graves conceived and wrote The White Goddess; and he was the first publisher to whom the book was submitted.

Membership costs st1g10 annually and is available from the Membership Secretary, 15 Kings Avenue, Ealing, London W5 2SI. Members receive the Charles Williams Society Newsletter which carries articles on Williams and matters related to his work, and are entitled to attend regular meetings in London and Oxford addressed by visiting speakers.

The talk to be held on June 5 1999 will be of particular interest to Gravesians: I will be speaking on 'Charles Williams, Robert Graves and The White Goddess', with unpublished letters from Williams held in the Graves archives at Deya.
